Memex consumes excessive amount of cpu

Memex 0.2.1, Chrome 66.0.3359.117, macOS 10.13.4

Memex uses 100%-125% of CPU while browsing according to Chrome's Task Manager, and continues to use such high cpu even if all tabs are closed for a long time. Attached is console log of the extension. What else can I provide to help debug this issue?

Hey @adjm,

sorry for the late reply and thanks for sharing such detailed info.
Mhh this is really weird. We ran a couple of times into this issue, but it was never this critical.

Let me ask you a couple of questions to further understand the problem:
How long have you been using the extension?
Have you ever been disabling and enabling the extension?
When did the problem starting to occur?

In any case, the problem you are mentioning should also be fixed with the new update, as we completely overhauled the search and the way data is stored. However it is only rolled out to new users as of now.
We are currently working on the migration so that existing users can also use this new improved indexing software.

If you are relatively new to using Memex, you may just want to install it freshly. 10k documents, with a decently speedy mac will take about 30-45 minutes to download and index.

Hope that helps.
Oliver
