4 Ways of Searching

1. Via the address bar of Chrome and Firefox

  • Type 'w', then 'space' or 'tab' into the address bar to activate search.
    The results are marked with the  -icon.
  • To add a time filter type in after:"2 weeks ago" or before:"yesterday". (Important to use the " to define the time)
  • add a tag filter by typing in #cool or #cool+project for the tags "cool" or "cool project"
  • Select the first result, in order to reach the full list of results

2. The search box in the popup

Click on the small  -icon in the menu bar to open

  • Press 'enter' after typing in some keywords to jump to the results in the overview
  • Press 'enter' on the empty field to directly jump to the overview.
  • To add a time filter type in after:"2 weeks ago" or before:"yesterday". (Important to use the " to define the time)

You reach it by selecting the first result in the address bar, or through the popup

 

3. Google & DuckDuckGo results page

Just search the way you usually would on your favourite search engine and see Memex results.

Pro-Queries

Wanna take a shortcut and only use the search box?
Then you can use various queries to filter directly from there. 

1. Filter by time (frame)

Type in after:"2 weeks ago" or before:"yesterday". (Important to use the " to define the time)

2. Filter by domain

Add e.g. newyorker.com or site:amazon.com to filter by domains. 

3. Filter by Tags

Start your query with # to filter for tagged pages e.g. #read+later

4. Exclude terms and domains

Exclude terms:

Type: house -garage 
Get: all pages containing house but not garage

Exclude domains:

Type: house -site:newyorker.com or house -newyorker.com  
Get: all pages containing house without the ones on newyorker.com

Exclude multiple domains:

Type: house -site:newyorker.com -site:google.de or house -newyorker.com -google.de
Get: all pages containing house without the ones on newyorker.com and google.de
